Whether you are first timer or a regular going to a nude beach or resort, there are customs to follow. Below is a list of some proper etiquette while visiting a nude recreational facility. This list is about everyone feeling safe and comfortable.
1. NO CAMERAS. If you have a cell phone, we suggest that you place something over the camera lens to cover it, better yet, leave it locked in the car or your room if attending a resort. We know you want to check email or check your Facebook page, but not everyone around you will be comfortable with the possibility of having their picture taken.
2. Observe all local beach and resort rules of conduct. Most facilities will have them posted somewhere. They are there for everyone’s safety and convenience.
3. Towel, Towel, Towel. Always have a towel with you to sit on. This is about being sanitary and personal hygiene. It can also be used to wrap around you if you need to step into an area that is not nude friendly.
4. No judgement. Body shamers need not attend any nude recreational facility. There will be people of all shapes and sizes and the last thing anyone needs is someone judging them. All bodies are beautiful and should be respected.
5. Keep the music volume down. Many people like to listen to music at the beach or resort. The best thing you can do is bring headphones out of respect for others around you.
6. Keep your area clean. Make sure to clean up after yourself.
7. Be polite to everyone.
8. You are not here for a sexual hookup! There is a time and place for everything and a nudist beach or resort is not the place. Sexual conduct more than likely will get you kicked out and some resorts will ban you. Unwanted sexual advances are NEVER welcome. Nudity does not equal consent. Male excitement, though rare, does happens. If a man becomes excited, place a towel over yourself, and it will pass.
9. Look but don’t stare. Yes, people are naked, you are naked, but nobody likes to be gawked at.
10. Do not invade a person’s personal space. Ask before you sit down. Some people may not be comfortable sitting with strangers.
11. Get naked! Do not be the person who attends a nudist recreational area and refuses to undress. This will raise a red flag to those around you that you may be there for the wrong reasons. Periodically you will encounter clothed people, but usually they are working for the facility.
Although these are only a few rules of proper etiquette, basic common sense should be followed. If you have questions, ask. Management at resorts would be more than happy to help you if this is your first time at a nudist facility. In the end, enjoy the experience of your freedom to be you. Have fun and Nude On!
